Blind cats
More commonly, cats lose their sight as a result of trauma, illness, or conditions like high blood pressure, toxoplasmosis, glaucoma, cataracts, or scarring caused by untreated in-turned eyelashes. A blind cat may display symptoms such as: cloudy, discolored, or inflamed eyes.
- How to tell if a cat is blind
- Cloudy eyes.
- Uneven or very wide pupils.
- Disorientation and bumping into things, especially in low light.
- Walking slowly/cautiously with their legs wider apart than usual. …
- Reluctance to jump.
- Hiding away and becoming nervous.
- Reluctance to go out at night.
- Changes in their behavior
Blind cats can sleep with their eyes open. Some cats do more so than others; its not a trait that all share nor will your cat likely do it all the time. In fact, its been observed to occur more in elder cats. A cat sleeping with their eyes open will look a little spooky if you have never seen it before!
