Say Hello to Maya

Maya was born with a chromosome abnormality that affects her vision, facial structure, and personality. And she’s incredible.

Maya was abandoned inside of a cat carrier next to a dumpster behind a Chinese food restaurant, where she was left with no way to escape and find warmth — where she was left to die. But she didn’t die. She was found and brought to a shelter, where she was cold, weak, sick, and afraid.
.
.
She stayed in that shelter for over three months, where she was consistently overlooked due to her differences. No one adopted her. To make room for “more adoptable” cats, the shelter put her on their 24 hour To Be Destroyed list: Death Row for cats. That’s when @theoddcatsanctuary rescued her and brought her to a foster home in Massachusetts.
.
We had been looking to rescue an animal, and happened across her photo by chance. She is the first animal both of us looked at and said “She’s the one”. And the rest is history.
.
.
Maya turned our house into a home, turned us into a family, and has brought so much love and happiness into our lives. She even brought us Dragon, but that’s a story for another day.
.
.
Maya is the perfect example of why it’s so important to rescue, to foster, and to adopt. Without each of those things, she would not be alive today. She is living proof that different does not mean less. That everyone deserves a chance. That animals are absolutely awesome. And that all lives are worthy of love.
.
.
We love you, Maya! And we love all of you guys, too. Thanks for following our little story!
