Best Buds- Pitty and Kitty

Jo Cook is crushing the stereotypes of pit bull breeds with her dog Frank and her cat Marvin. They are a dynamic duo. Two peas in a pod: a comedy team that keeps everyone entertained!
Frank is an American Staffordshire Terrier. “We had another Staffie. She passed 2 years ago after living with us for 13 years. Her name was Kyra.”
Destiny
Jo was not planning to have both a cat and a dog– it just sort of happened. “Marvin came to us through our oldest daughter. She and her family found him in side ditch. He had a broken leg and a tail with all the hair burned off of it. They took him to the vet and got him headed in the right direction. We ended up kitty sitting for them and he just stayed with us. We called him Starving Marvin because he screamed when he was hungry. He is a few months older than Frank. When Frank came to us Marvin and he each weighed 10 pounds and it was best friends from the start.
“Frank is 14 months old. I got him around a year ago at 8 weeks. He is a big goofball and like a typical bully breed has no sense of personal space. He loves people and we are working on his greeting skills as he tends to over love. Marvin is probably about 5 months older than Frank. Frank has always been good with Marvin mostly because Marvin insists upon it. He trained Frank when they were little and he still sets the standard for play. When they were small, we made sure Marvin had lots of high places to get to so he could escape. Now, high places work but so do low places like under chairs because Frank is too big to get under them,” Jo explained.

“They play inside and out. We modified our chain link fence so Marvin could be outside and not escape. We live close to a highly travelled highway.”
Frank is not a puppy anymore! He may be too big to find Marvin in his hiding places, but that does not stop these two from playing together, and their bond is only getting stronger. “They do lots of head play. Marvin will be on the back of a chair and Frank will stand up and they mouth one another. There is chase through the house involved sometimes but Marvin has well-planned places to go. When Frank is in his x-pen, Marvin will taunt him.” You might see videos of these two in our Facebook group: Loving All Pets
