Rescue Volunteer Turns 90 Years Old and is Not Ready to Quit

Jack Dickason  has been a volunteer at the Pet Welfare Adoption Center,  a no-kill animal shelter on Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, for 16 years and recently celebrated his 90th birthday. He donates his time to coordinate the schedules of all the volunteers as well as wherever he is needed.Losing his leg last year did not even slow him down.

Pet Welfare is a private, nonprofit organization with no affiliation or support from the government even though it is on  military base.

Jack served in the military, National Guard, and worked at Boeing before he retired. One of his friends who has since passed, suggested he volunteer at the shelter and he has never regretted it.

“Maybe it’s because I’m accomplishing something,” he said when asked why he’s stuck with it for so long. “I get to help out people and the pets.”

Let give Jack some love! Thank you Jack.  You are a hero.
