I read years ago that cats and dogs prefer drinking water  that is flowing as opposed to still water. Its healthier too because the flowing water is well oxygenated and cleaner but what I looked at seemed expensive.  Recently I was introduced to the Noah Pet Water Fountain made by DOG CARE Inc.  It is cute, simple to set up, and very affordable.

Water Fountain

It uses a small pump like what you would see in an aquarium. It has very little power consumption., and has a gentle flow that does not make loud splashing noises.

The fountain has a small filter to keep the water clean that needs to be washed to prevent blockage that will decrease the flow.

The documentation is well written and includes a troubleshooting guide.

We also have two senior cats that are using the fountain, but seem to run when the camera is out!
