Miniature doodle dogs can grow up to somewhere between 13 – 12 inches and weigh between 40 – 50 pounds. Mini doodle dog breeds are in great demand because they are easier to maintain and are suitable for small living spaces. Compared to their larger counterparts, these mini dogs have a longer lifespan and need less training and exercise.
Below is our list of the best and popular breeds of mini doodle dogs. For more information about doodles, feel free to visit We Love Doodles.
MINI IRISH DOODLE (IRISH SETTER & POODLE)
The first mini doodle on our list is the Irish Setter that is as light as 35 pounds. Mini Irish Doodles love socializing and are a fun breed to own. They are intelligent, which makes it easy to train them. They love indoors as much as they love outdoors (provided there is a lot of cuddling and snuggling). However, if they are bored, they might become anxious and destructive.
MINI LABRADOODLE (LABRADOR RETRIEVER & POODLE)
Mini Labradoodles have an active temperament and need lots of running and exercise to get all their energy out. This breed makes excellent guide dogs for people who suffer from depression, autism, or other physical disabilities such as blindness. They need training from an early age because they tend to become mischievous as they grow older.
BOLONOODLE (BOLOGNESE & POODLE)
These mini doodle dogs are a mix between Bolognese and Poodle. They are stocky and compact and also display extraordinary levels of intelligence. When it comes to their temperament, these breeds are calm, easy-going, and playful. They also love playtime, whether it’s indoors or outdoors. Health-wise they are pretty robust and can live up to 15 years. The only drawback with this breed is that they need a lot of mental stimulation and interaction; otherwise, they can become depressed.
MINI GOLDENDOODLE (GOLDEN RETRIEVER & POODLE)
The mini Goldendoodles weigh 15 to 30 pounds. They are adorable and carry the grit and goofiness of their Golden Retriever parent. Although smaller in size, they love physical activities and need frequent petting and adoration. These breeds are sensitive to voice, non-aggressive, intelligent, and social.
COCKAPOO (COCKER SPANIEL & POODLE)
The Cockapoo is a mix of two loving and highly intelligent breeds. The mini Cockapoos’ are very affectionate and have a calm and sweet temperament. This cross breed’s size and appearance are hard to predict because the parent genes will influence its looks. But they grow long furs which means they will need more grooming and care. They love socializing and, if left alone for a longer period, can develop separation anxiety.
SCHNOODLE (SCHNAUZER & POODLE)
The Mini Schnoodle has a protective and alert temperament which makes them an excellent guard dog. They are independent and, at times, stubborn but are very loyal and loving. Schnoodles prefer an active lifestyle, and if they don’t get enough physical activity and mental stimulation, they will become destructive. These breeds also tend to bark a lot, but this should go away if you properly train them.
PEEKAPOO (PEKINGESE & POODLE)
The Peekapoo has a wavy and soft hypoallergenic coat and a cute little face. They were initially designed for allergy sufferers. This is a relatively small dog that can grow up to 11 inches. They usually weigh between 8 – 20 lbs. These mini dogs come in different colors such as white, silver, grey, cream, red, black, apricot, and chocolate. This is a perfect mini doodle dog for someone who wants a lovable and calm lapdog.
MINI AUSSIEDOODLE (AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD & POODLE)
Mini Aussiedoodles are energetic, intelligent, outgoing, social, courageous, and gentle. They love around people, especially children, and if you can train them early, they can get along with cats and other pets. These mini breeds do good in homes that has one or more stay-at-home members. The Mini-Aussiedoodle loves the outdoors and is the perfect exercise companion.
MINI BORDOODLE (BORDER COLLIE & POODLE)
Bordoodles develop strong bonds with their families pretty early on. These breeds are suitable for people who prefer an active life since they need to spend sufficient time outdoors and they also need regular training. Mini Bordoodles can weigh up to 30 pounds. Their favorite outdoor activities include swimming, hiking, and running.
MINI PYREDOODLE (PYRENEES & POODLE)
This mini designer breed is a well-focused working dog. They are full of vibrant energy but also know how to calm themselves. Often they give off a light-hearted and joyful vibe. Since different breeders have different standards, it is not possible to determine their exact size. It would be best if you looked at its parents to know how big they will grow.
MINI NEWFYPOO (NEWFOUNDLAND & POODLE)
The Newfypoos’ are protective and very loyal. They love with unbeatable intensity and are also funny and goofy like the Mini Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. The Mini Newfypoo can weigh up to 50 pounds depending on the size of its Poodle parent. They shed very little fur and are hypoallergenic. But they need regular grooming and brushing.
Most Mini Doodle Dog breeds make great companions, and they suit almost all types of families. However, before you get one, make sure that the particular cross-breed will be a good fit for your lifestyle.
