I love re-purposed products and who would think dogs love to chew on fire hoses!

It makes a great chew toy that will give your dog many hours of enjoyment. It is a durable long lasting material that is safe for your dog,  but the owner of the store wants you to know it is not indestructible

Dog toys that are made out of firehose are very tough and durable, but if anyone advertises that their toy is indestructible, then they are not being honest with you.

A dog’s back teeth are aligned in a way that they can be used like scissors. Some dogs never figure this out, but if you see that your dog moves a toy into the very back row of teeth and is doing a slow, grinding type chew, then they have learned how to use those teeth to cut through whatever is in their mouth.

My first experience seeing this was with my Weimaraner while I was sitting on a patio with her. She wanted to go off away from the table, but her leash was still attached, so she cut through it with her back teeth. It took less than 2 minutes, so it can happen very fast.

The reason I’m explaining all of this is that if you see your dog chew like this, then as the human, you should intervene if you want the toy to survive. Either start a game of tug or toss, but anything to disrupt that slow, grinding chew in the back of their teeth. If left to continue this type of chewing, they will eventually cut through whatever is in their mouth.
