Dog safety products for auto-Podcast
In this interview, Richard Casey from 4×4 North America explains what to look for in dog safety products, the importance of product crash testing, and choices for the consumer. A look at choices to keep your dog safe while traveling. Dog and cats fly in the air like a football when in a car accident. Even just coming to a quick stop will knock your dog off its feet. Travel crates, restraints and other devices are all choices for the dog owner.
A safer way for your dog to travel in a car is in a dog crate, preferably made from a strong material such as aluminum. Place crates on the floor of the back seat or in the open storage/trunk area, not on the back seat. Crates can also be strapped down, so they do not move about as much.
Other dog safety products in the car are a safety belt and harness. To use a dog seat belt, simply clip the belt to the seat belt straps, seat belt latch or overhead handles using the attachments provided. Then, just attach the belt to your dog’s collar or harness. Be sure to follow the included instructions for the particular seat belt you’re using and test to make sure your dog can’t unlatch the fasteners while you’re in transit.
