SURF DOG RICOCHET IS RAISING FUNDS TO SECURE PET OXYGEN MASKS FOR EVERY FIRE STATION IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY

PET OXYGEN MASKS SAVE LIVES!

SAN DIEGO, CA, May 16, 2014… In the midst of the tragic fires that have been ravaging San Diego county this week, Surf dog Ricochet is reaching out to lend a paw for the safety of pets in the community by heading up a pet oxygen mask fundraiser.

San Diego county, where Ricochet lives, is in a severe drought, and officials say the community is poised for the worst fire season ever. As soon as the Bernardo fire broke out on Tuesday, May 13th, Ricochet began a preparedness campaign with the intention of providing pet oxygen masks BEFORE another fire started. Shockingly, the day she kicked off her fundraiser, eight more fires erupted.

Losing a pet due to a house fire can be a devastating experience. But with a pet oxygen mask, that threat can be mitigated. These masks are used to deliver oxygen to pets that suffer from smoke asphyxiation and other breathing issues due to emergencies such as home fires. Because we have such a large pet community, Ricochet wanted to ensure that all pets had access to this life saving tool. So communication with the Emma Zen Foundation began. The Emma Zen Foundation is a non profit 501(c)3 organization that educates and raises funds to provide pet oxygen masks to fire departments and first responders. The Foundation was working to get pet oxygen masks to San Diego for a while now, but still needed $20,000 to ensure every fire station, including city, military, Indian and volunteer departments has one. Each pet oxygen kit costs $75 and contains three different sizes. Ricochet’s goal is to raise the $20,000 still needed. We have a lot of pets that live in San Diego county, including our rescues and shelters like Helen Woodward Animal Center, the San Diego Humane Society and Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Far too many pets die each year due to smoke asphyxiation. Please help Ricochet save lives by making any size donation at https://www.surfdogricochet.com/current-fundraisers.html. Thank you for your support.
