Skin and ear infections- Buster Boy’s Recovery
skin and ear infections
part one of two
This is Buster Boy. He is 12 years old and for the past two years has been suffering from chronic, returning skin infections and ear infections. He also has growths on his stomach and in his ears. I took him off of a poultry and grain diet two years ago which made a big difference in excessive scratching and him pulling out mouthfuls of hair, but his hot spots continued to re-occur, fester, and spread. The infections created a foul smell that has permeated his and my bedding and even the furniture.
His monthly meds are now more than I can afford, plus vet visits and future treatments.
Buster keeps scratching the areas with lost hair causing the dry skin to get infected.
In part 2 we fid a treatment program and you can see the difference
Canine atopic dermatitis (allergic dermatitis, canine atopy) is an inherited predisposition to develop allergic symptoms.
The itching may be localized to certain areas or may be over their entire body. Usually the feet, face, ears, armpits and front legs are affected. This is in contrast to a flea allergy where the rump, tail, groin and thighs are usually affected. About half of the animals with atopic dermatitis will also be allergic to fleas .
