Owner of Dog Dragged in Hall of Shelter Speaks Out

The dog shown in the video being dragged down a hall in Hesperia Animal Shelter belongs to Tracie Carpenter. The dog is reported to be a five or six year old female named Mia.

Mia had escaped from home and was picked up by shelter workers. Carpenter told reporters that one of her neighbors saw Mia get picked up, so Carpenter called the shelter and was told the dog would be kept overnight so it could be spayed.

“The fact that there’s three people in the video watching the dog being (dragged) by it’s neck all the way down the hallway — and nobody said anything — is beyond frustrating”

Carpenter saw the video in a Facebook group after a friend directed her to it.  Carpenter was infuriated. She told reporters, “The fact that there’s three people in the video watching the dog being (dragged) by it’s neck all the way down the hallway — and nobody said anything — is beyond frustrating”

Why was the dog spayed, did the owner ask for it to be done.

    • They didn’t give any choice. It had to be done or she would not get the dog back…and she had to pay for it
