One Eyed Cat Rides the Waves in Paradise

While most of us are sitting next to the fire with a cup of coffee to keep warm, Kuli the one eyed cat is riding the waves with Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton under the tropical sun of Hawaii.

Kuli seems to have developed an affinity for the water from when he was a kitten and had regular baths after having an eye removed.  Kuli first learned to surf, his owners said, when he was about six months old.

“His first time in the water, we just let him float on the board by himself near the shoreline and I would paddle around with him,” said Gomez. “Before we knew it we were looking for waves to surf.”

“Before he could swim confidently on his own, Kuli always wore a life jacket,” Gomez said. “He still wears it from time to time depending on the conditions but we are careful not to take him out if it is too windy or the water is too rough.”
