Ira Stahl was worried. His two beloved Pomeranian-Poodle mixes, Peanut and Bear, loved going on long car rides with him, but their size and tendency to move around made him concerned for their in-car safety. As Stahl had been inventing for years, he began to think of a device that could restrain small dogs in the car without taking away their freedom to be comfortable.
Typically, most harnesses and products used to confine small dogs in the car are unnecessarily restrictive and can even harm the dogs by hurting their chests. Stahl wanted a product that would enable him to keep his furry friends beside him on drives without having to physically hold them in his lap. This is how he developed the idea for the K9 Car Fence.
Initially a prototype composed of bungee cord and piping, Stahl developed a working model of his idea and put it to use. Neighbors, he said, initially thought he was crazy when they looked at the contraption. After seeing how well it worked, however, they changed their tune.
Other dog lovers began to ask for it. Ira had so many requests that he went into business. He has now realized his life dream of creating a product that helps dogs and dog lovers live better together.
After refining the product, Stahl officially developed a way for dogs to ride in the car in a safe and convenient manner. The product could not be available at a more opportune time- more people drive with their dogs during the summer than any other time and a new law in NJ even places fines on people who don’t have their dogs restrained in the car.
All K9 Car Fences are American-made, high-quality products. They are height-adjustable and come with a washable mat and easy-to-use snap assembly. The product is versatile- you can also use it to restrain bags, boxes, pizza, and other belongings in the front seat.
Eventually, Stahl said he would like to expand the business to develop specific products for big dogs that would take up the whole backseat, as well as Car Fences for cats.
