Corduroy-Oldest Living Cat is Presumed Dead After Escaping

Corduroy the cat

Corduroy the cat, the famous Oregon kitty recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records to be the oldest living cat is missing and presumed dead.

Ashley Okura of Sisters, Oregon who had Corduroy for 27 years made the announcement on Instagram this week. She reports that the cat bolted out the door on the night of October 9 and has not been seen since.

“Corduroy literally ran outside when we opened the door as we arrived home,” Okura posted on Thanksgiving. “We have not seen him since. It is with a heavy heart I make this post, announcing that Corduroy has most likely crossed the rainbow bridge.”

“I am grateful we had an unbelievable, special, 27 years together,” Okura wrote.

In past interviews she credited Corduroy’s longevity to “letting him roam the property and catch critters and get exercise.”
