Beloved Mill Dog Rescue Dies at Age 17 and Leaves a Legacy of Hope

lilolive

Lil Olive became a spokeperson for the movement to end puppy mill breeding after she was rescued by National Mill Dog Rescue and then adopted by Pam Horton.

Olive was a breeder Mother of Italian Greyhounds for 12.5 YEARS, living her life in a cage pumping out puppies. Like many mill breeder dogs, this way of life took a big physical and mental toll on the dog. She has jaw rot, one and a half teeth, her tail was broken several times, crushed trachea, very little hair on her body and very sensitive skin. It is estimated she had over 20 litters, which caused her hips to remain larger than normal and causes her to waddle when she walks.

We had the honor and pleasure of interviewing Pam about Lil Olive 8 months ago.
